Point and Shoot with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310!

Introduction:

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310 is an entry-level, less-expensive comrade of the newly introduced W-series from Sony. The camera kit packs Picture Motion Browser (PMB) version 5.0 software that will assist you in sorting, transferring and organizing your pictures according to the categories of your choice. All that you need to do is simply plug in the camera to a PC and get to work with your photos.

Features:

The DSC-W310 offers In-Camera Retouching feature that helps you give the final touches to your photo, remove red-eye from the pictures etc within the camera itself. Thus, you will be saved from having to use a computer for fixing petty issues and this feature comes in handy while traveling.

Pros:

  • Often, cameras fail to capture faces and the emotions playing on them in full detail. The embedded Face detection technology not only recognizes up to 8 faces but also meddles with the exposure and focus aspects on its own to create perfect images that highlight the subject’s face with great clarity.
  • For shooting outdoor shots and for locking in the targets from long distances the 4x optical zoom lens is the right tool. You can even capture the entire family in one single shot with this 28mm lens.
  • Shoot home videos of 640 x 480 VGA resolution at 30 frames per second with the embedded Movie mode function. Unfortunately, zoom function cannot be used while shooting videos.

Cons:

  • The camera lacks a viewfinder and a HD output.
  • Blink detection, optical image stabilization and noise-reduction features are absent from this model.
  • The user cannot adjust the white balance settings manually.
  • The camera throws up certain focusing issues sporadically.

Pricing Range: Own this point-and-shoot today by paying just $119-$150.  Available in Pink, Silver & Black!

Final Verdict: For a basic point-and-shoot camera Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W310 does well but its image quality is average and doesn’t live up to our expectations. Colors look saturated and the images look soft at times. Being an entry-level model, the camera had been stripped off certain important features that would have otherwise enhanced its performance quotient. A simple point-and-shoot camera for an affordable price!
